The curriculum is a combination of courses intended to provide a complex, systematic reflection of the methodologies, argumentative approaches and current research methods used by contemporary comparative and theoretical studies. The aim is to offer a grounding in the basic features of European and international (“world”) literature from the perspective of its historical development. The students will be able to apply their complex knowledge and interpretative skills to their former (BA level) specialization and primary competence, which are tested in the entrance examination. The programme, therefore, requires permanent interaction with the student’s previous degree specialization and encourages students to benefit from individual compilations of study plans and projects to reflect their own distinctive competencies and former study specializations.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates in Comparative Literature are able to analyse the material of distinct national literatures or historical eras and to reach into other spheres of culture and its media forms. Their interpretative skills are based on general, conceptual knowledge that enables graduates to analyse both the structure of literary texts and their roles within the historical, genre-based and theoretical contexts. Graduates are prepared to enter doctoral programmes in comparative and distinct national literatures, aesthetics, history of arts, cultural studies etc., as well as to seek employment in the spheres of media and cultural institutions.
