SP characteristics

The BA programme in Phonetics provides an introduction into the interdisciplinary study of speech sciences and educates professionals in fundamental aspects of speech communication and in handling the sound of speech. The programme provides a grounding in the production, acoustic properties, and perceptual patterns of speech, as well as the systematic description of speech at the segmental and prosodic levels. An inseparable part of the study is the acquisition of skills for working with speech material, which includes the acoustic analysis of the speech signal, phonetic segmentation, as well as auditory analyses and analytical and holistic assessment of speech.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates gain a solid grounding in the sound patterns of language, from speech production and perception to acoustic properties of the speech signal to principles of the phonological description at the segmental and prosodic levels. Moreover, they develop skills for acoustic analyses of speech, as well as for analytical and holistic auditory assessment.
