The aim of the study programme is to train experts on Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, on Polish-Czech, Hungarian-Czech and Slovak-Czech relations as well as on Roma issues, covering linguistic, cultural and historical aspects.

Graduate profile for the public:
Having received training in linguistics, literary studies and history, graduates are specialists in the Hungarian language, literature and history and have a grounding in Hungarian geography, culture and society. Graduates have Hungarian language skills at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Graduates additionally have a basic command of another, contact, language – Slovene, Croatian, Serbian, Romanian, Slovak, or Ukrainian – or a grounding in the history or literatures of other Central European countries, depending on their choice. Graduates can apply this knowledge when interpreting developments in Central Europe and analysing Hungarian texts and speech of various genres. Graduates are also able to compose and produce texts and speech in Hungarian for various communicative purposes.

Having received training in linguistics, literary studies and history, graduates are specialists in the Polish language, literature and history and have a grounding in Polish geography, culture and society. Graduates have Polish language skills at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Graduates additionally have a knowledge of another area of the Central European region – Czech, German, Hungarian, Polish, or Romani studies – literatures of Central Europe, the history of Central Europe or Slavic studies, depending on their choice. Graduates can apply this knowledge when interpreting developments in Central Europe and analysing Polish texts and speech of various genres. Graduates are also able to compose and produce texts and speech in Polish for various communicative purposes.

Graduates are familiar with issues discussed in social sciences in relation to the Roma with a focus on Central European regions. They have acquired a practical knowledge of North Central Romani (at B2 level of CEFR) and general cultural and communication skills to actively participate in the Romani environment. They have a basic theoretical grounding in the language and culture at linguistic and anthropological level. They have a grounding in the history, culture and sub-ethnic groups of the Roma in former Czechoslovakia, as well as an awareness of the broader linguistic, cultural and historical context of Central Europe. They have been trained to accept non-conformity and otherness and to respect differences in culture, language and communication.
