SP characteristics

The programme provides students with comprehensive historical training including the option to focus on European cultural and political history as well as their individual fields of study, ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. Students are introduced to the history of European integration and the current institutional set-up of the EU. The programme is designed to enable students either to continue in master’s programmes in related historical fields or to seek practice-oriented employment in state administration, cultural institutions and similar settings.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates are proficient in the historical method and able to work critically and creatively with research sources and literature; furthermore, they are able to apply more complex methodological processes under the tutelage of
an instructor. They have a grounding in basic political, cultural and economic milestones of European development from the Middle Ages to the present day, have a comprehensive command of the expert discourse and the ability to critically develop it further. Graduates have a solid grounding in the partial problems related to modern research, knowledge of current European issues and the ability to explain their historical causes and contexts.
