The aim of the programme is to provide students with a basic grounding in the archaeology of prehistory, the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, including the relevant theory, practice and methods of exploring the earliest history of the Czech Lands in the European context.
The Bachelor’s programme, in both its major and minor forms, is designed to equip students with skills and expertise necessary for careers in archaeology and heritage conservation, in related branches of the state and regional administration, in the cultural, social and media sectors. Moreover, talented graduates are prepared for follow-up Master’s programmes, including at partner universities across Europe.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates have a grounding in prehistoric, medieval and post-medieval archaeology in the Czech Lands and in the principal issues in Central European archaeology. They are familiar with the primary investigative procedures in contemporary archaeology. Therefore, the BA programme provides a qualification for work in archaeological conservation and museums; however, its main purpose is to provide a basis for further study.
