The study program is part of a two-stage teacher training for secondary schools and is studied separately or in combination with another apprenticeship subject (geography, geology, chemistry, physics, or mathematics). The study plans of the branch contain a professional component and a didactic component. The branch of study extends the knowledge gained in the bachelor's study well by the part focused on Earth sciences and also the multi-discipline biological disciplines focused on processes and interactions within the organism and between organisms and the environment. The didactic component then represents the focus of the study. These are subjects where students learn to apply and pass on theoretical knowledge through various teaching methods and forms. Students will test the real application of these procedures within two blocks of compulsory pedagogical practice. An integral part of the study program is also a pedagogical-psychological block of subjects, where students acquire the competencies necessary for their profession as a teacher so that they can pass the state final exam in pedagogy and psychology.

The graduate has demonstrated a basic knowledge of biology with a deeper insight into individual biological areas. They proved that they can interconnect and use the acquired knowledge in applied biological disciplines. The graduate also has the knowledge of pedagogy and psychology and thanks to the field didactic component of the study, they can transform the acquired knowledge and skills into the form of subject matter. At the same time, the study enabled him to gain an overview of biological education in the Czech Republic and the basic methods of his research.
Professional skills
The graduate is equipped with key competencies in a wide range of biological disciplines, pedagogy, psychology, and didactics of biology. They has knowledge of many biological topics and issues, including practical laboratory skills. Graduates are able to prepare, perform and didactically process simple biological laboratory experiments. They are able to conduct biological field excursions and identify common animals and plants found in the Czech Republic. Graduates master didactic principles and are able to compile and lead a teaching unit. Graduates are also able to work with data and information in terms of searching, critical evaluation, sorting, and subsequent analysis. They can discuss, explain, present, and transmit information both in writing and orally. In terms of vocational training, they are able to participate fully in the teaching process.
