The follow-up combined Master's program Teacher Education of Geology for secondary schools (main – formerly two-study) is primarily intended to complete the bachelor's combined undergraduate study program Geology for Teacher Education (main – formerly two-study). Besides extending the specialized geological basis, the main mission of the Master´s program is to equip the students with the practical ability for teaching geology and a second field of study (biology, chemistry, physical education) in school practice. The curriculum includes, in particular, the subjects of professional didactics and the pedagogical-psychological block. In the didactic field, which is the core of the study, the students acquire theoretical knowledge and learn to translate them into practice through different teaching methods and forms. These abilities are then verified during two compulsory pedagogical practices. Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate is equipped with key qualificationsin a wide range of geoscientific disciplines. They have knowledge in a number of thematic areas of both classical and applied geosciences, including practical laboratory skills. The graduates are able to prepare, perform and didactically work out simple laboratory experiments, they are able to prepare geological excursions and lead practical exercises focused on distinguishing the basic types of rocks, minerals and different types of geological processes. The graduates are educated in didactic methods and are able to prepare and lead a teaching unit. The graduates are prepared to work with data and information, actively seek, evaluate, classify and analyze them, and then use them in teaching or other professions. They are able to present the subject knowledge both in writing and orally. The graduates are fully prepared to engage in the teaching process or in other occupations in life-long learning, public administration, nature conservation agencies.
