The aim of the study program Teacher Training of Geography for Upper Secondary Schools is to allow students gain qualification to teach geography (as a separate or integrated subject) at secondary schools and grammar schools. The graduates can also apply into the informal education sphere (such as ecology learning centers, management of nature parks, education foundations). Student's ability to use general methodological processes and geographic way of thinking allow them to apply in the sphere of local and regional authorities or in other institutions aimed at the problematics of territorial development, environmental protection etc.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate has a systematic knowledge of geography and related disciplines as well the general knowledge of didactics, pedagogy and psychology, needed for the professional carrier in geography education. The graduate has key competencies in geography and geographical perspective, knows basic methodological geographical processes, is able to apply the systematic way of thinking about geographic issues. Using research methods and techniques of geographical analysis and synthesis, the graduate can handle a wide range of information about spatial aspects and problems of regional systems at different scales. Apart from professional competence, the graduate has the didactical, pedagogical and psycho-didactical ability, is able to plan, realize and evaluate the process of education in broad context. In the matter of social communication, the graduate manages the means of pedagogical communication in class / school as well as the creation of a favorable working climate. The graduate can apply effective ways of communicating with students and adults. Furthermore, he/she can diagnose student performance and is capable of further selfeducation and professional reflection of herself/himself according to self-assessment and evaluation by different subjects. The graduate is able to make independent and responsible decisions, work in team and coordinate working team, comprehensibly and convincingly communicate information about professional problems to experts and the general public, is able to independently gain more professional knowledge, skills and competencies, to independently design the content and form of teaching, and to create a teaching plan.
