The goal of the study is to enable the graduates to acquire a complete master's education which will prepare them for the profession of a mathematics teacher at a lower and upper secondary school of all types. The programme respects a balance of cognitive, didactic and pedagogical-psychological parts of preparation and based on the standards of the Ministry of School, Youth and Sports, it is closely related to the bachelor degree of Mathematics oriented to education. Mathematical knowledge acquired in the bachelor study is further systematised and, via a series of courses (School mathematics from the point of view of university mathematics), connected to school mathematics. The core of education in the master's study lies in mathematics education which is based on the up-to-date didactic conception and research results. The graduates of the study programme will be prepared for the construction and application of school educational programmes with respect to the integration of different mathematical fields (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, financial mathematics, etc.)and different educational fields. They will be prepared to design and realise the teaching of mathematics aimed at understanding mathematics, with respect to various types of pupils requiring differentiated teaching.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate of the study programme will acquire necessary knowledge and skills for the profession of a mathematics teacher at a lower and upper secondary school of all types. He/she has wide mathematical, didactic and pedagogical-psychological education. He/she is equipped with knowledge and skills from basic mathematical fields, from problem solving and from the history of mathematical thinking. He/she can apply modern didactic methods and forms of work in the teaching of mathematics in a creative way. He/she is able to cooperate on the construction and application of school educational programmes including inter-subject connections. He/she is prepared to design and realise the teaching of mathematics aimed at understanding mathematics, with respect to various types of pupils requiring differentiated teaching. He/she is able to identify pupils talented for mathematics and pupils with special learning needs and provide them with systematic support. He/she is able to use results of research in mathematics education in the design of his/her own teaching and in the diagnosis of pupils' mistakes and their re-education.
The graduate of the study programme is a fully qualified mathematics teacher at a lower and upper secondary school of all types. His/her wide mathematics, social-scientific and pedagogical-psychological education creates good prerequisites for an independent choice of professional orientation. He/she is a teacher who can react to the needs of teaching at different levels and types of school in a creative way. He/she can work outside the educational system, for examples, in media, bureaus and institutions aimed at education and work with pupils talented in mathematics. He/she can continue with his/her education within a doctoral study in Mathematics Education which is accredited at the Faculty of Education, Charles University.
The graduate of the study programme is a fully qualified mathematics teacher at a lower and upper secondary school of all types. His/her wide mathematics, social-scientific and pedagogical-psychological education creates good prerequisites for an independent choice of professional orientation.
