Cílem kurzu zaměřeného na budoucí autory bakalářských prací je vytvářet a dále rozvíjet jak produktivní tak i receptivní schopnosti spojené s akademickým stylem psaní. Kurz klade důraz na zefektivnění schopnosti kritického přístupu ke zdrojům, strukturování, editování a základů metodiky a etiky jednotlivých disciplín zkoumaných v bakalářských pracích.

The course, which is designed for the future authors of Bc theses, aims at developing the productive and receptive skills associated with academic writing. It focuses on a critical approach to the sources, editing, and the basics of methodology and ethics of the disciplines which the students will explore in their Bc theses.

Cílem semináře je připravit studenta pro samostatné a nezávislé zpracování dosud nezkoumaného tématu.
Po absolvování semináře bude mít student povědomí o literatuře, zdrojích, metodách a materiálu, které bude v práci využívat, a o jazyce a zásadách tvorby akademického textu. V průběhu semestru si student si zvolí téma bakalářské práce, kontaktuje potenciálního vedoucího práce a připraví návrh zadání práce.

The main goal of the seminar is to prepare students for exploring a novel topic individually and independently.
The seminar builds students’ awareness of the literature, sources, methods and materials which they will rely on when writing their Bc thesis, and of the features of academic writing. During the semester, the students will select the topic of their Bc thesis, contact the potential supervisor, and formulate the description of the thesis.

The students are required to
present the topic of their Bc thesis at the seminar (the general field of the thesis – literature, linguistics, culture studies, or translation – has to be selected by the end of the 9th week of the semester, and entered in Moodle),
submit a written proposal of the Bc thesis assignment (one week before the end of the summer term examination period in September at the latest).
