The programme offers training for the teachers of history which is based on a balanced combination of historiographical knowledge and methodology with didactic theory and reflection on practical teaching experience. Teacher education as taught in the programme integrates a number of innovations to enhance students’ ability to respond to the dynamic conditions of present-day society. The programme is structured around competency-based instruction, which is aimed at improving historical literacy among secondary school students.

Graduates are equipped with the pedagogical and professional skills required for employment as teachers of history in formal education, in accordance with Act No. 563/2004 Sb., as amended, for positions which require a master’s degree in the field and for continuation in the doctoral programme in pedagogy or related subjects.
