SP characteristics

The three-year single-subject bachelor programme in Classical Archaeology targets a better understanding of the fundamental aspects of material culture, art and archaeology of ancient Greek and Roman World (Aegean Bronze Age, Greek art and archaeology from the beginnings, through Archaic and Classical periods, to Hellenism, Etruscan art and archaeology, Roman art and archaeology from the days of the republic to the late empire, as well as Roman provinces), basic orientation in the field of ancient history, ancient topography, architecture and technology. The students get trained not only theoretically and methodologically but also practically in the realms of field archaeology and museum work. In addition, the graduate is expected to be actively able to communicate in at least one main modern language and passively in one classical.

Graduate profile for the public:
Graduates are required to possess a basic knowledge of art andmaterial culture of the ancient word, as well as the basics of ancient world covering the full scope of classical archaeology and its associated disciplines. They also aquired basic skills in excavation and non destructive field work as well as in museum work. Thes graduates can work at an excavation, can speak one language and have basic passive knowledge of one dead language.
