Middle Eastern studies are bringing up graduates with advanced humanities education with a focus on cultural history and contemporarary issues of the area of the Middle East and the northern Africa. The aim is also to give the students the ability to critically think and work with information in a language of the area or with secondary literature.

The graduates are experts in the Middle East region. They have a proficiency in one of the region’s major languages at B1 level and have an advanced knowledge of the culture of the region. They have a basic grounding in subject-related literature and are able to work with subject-related reference books, including basic electronic resources, which they are able to use in two major languages.
