Rychle se měnící globální ekonomický a politický systém je realitou, do které je naše společnost zapojena. Studenti mezinárodních regionálních studií by měli rozumět procesům globalizace. Ekonomické zájmy a politická moc aktérů, kteří tvoří mezinárodní systém – suverénní národní vlády, nadnárodní korporace, finanční instituce a mezinárodní organizace – jsou klíčovými složkami, které budou v tomto kurzu zkoumány. Po úvodních lekcích zaměřených na koncepční a empirické základy současných obchodních, měnových a finančních systémů budou následovat přednášky a diskuse o ekonomických, politických a sociálních otázkách vyvolaných prohlubující se globalizací a nedávnou deglobalizací – jejich dopadem na nerovnost, chudobu a životní prostředí. Kurz se intenzivně zaměřuje na analýzu aktuálních debat. Nedoporučujeme absolvovat tento kurz v prvním ročníku studia.

1. Active participation – 20%, assessed on the basis of regular attendance (maximum of 2 unexcused absences) and active participation in class debates 2. Pair oral presentation of news media article 25% 3. Midterm quiz on understanding mandatory readings 25%. Sit-in quiz, in the computer room, on April 23, 2026. 4. Reflection paper 30%, due May 7, 2026. Includes a short in-class oral critical debrief. AI policy for this module is regulated by the Decree of the Director of IMS FSV UK 09/2023, para 17. 1) Use of tools of generative AI is generally permitted during the work on the essays but not for negeration of substantive parts of the text. However students need to be acutely aware of the risks: inaccurate information, fabulated bibliography etc. All pieces of information and resources suggested by chatbots need to be carefully verified; it is the student who is responsible for all mistakes in the submitted text. 2) Each essay must contain a truthful statement by the student on the use chatbots (not counted into the headline wordcount): whether they used them or not, at what stages of the work, and what were the questions and tasks asked from the chatbot. 3) Any parts of the text devised by AI tools (and not the students themselves) must be treated as quotations (ie. quotation marks, references..).
