Anotace

The course focuses on understanding the prevention of oral diseases, with an emphasis on the prevention and prophylaxis of oral cavity diseases associated with dental microbial plaque, poor dietary habits, and lifestyle factors. Topics include initial carious lesions—their development, dynamics, and treatment—along with the role of fluoride in dental caries prevention. Non-carious defects of hard dental tissues and the epidemiology of oral diseases are also covered.

Cíl předmětu

1. To acquire adequate professional knowledge of:

• dental caries (aetiology and diagnostics),
• prevention of dental caries,
• dental tooth wear (aetiology, diagnostics),
• dental microbial plaque and its role in oral diseases,
• periodontal diseases (classification, diagnostics),
• smoking and oral diseases,
• periodontal diseasesand relating to general health.

2. To learn basic practical skills in the given field.
