Czech Langue IV is a follow up of the course Czech Language III from the winter term of the second study year in the programme "Dentistry" (programme for international students). The course helps students to develop their day-to-day communication skills (which was also the contents of the previous term), but parallely it focuses on specialised vocabulary and practical communication skills in dental practice. Prevailing teaching method is the communicative method; out of the four language skills the most accented is listening and speaking. Poslední úprava: Brandejsová Petra (05.02.2025)

ATTENDANCE: Only 3 absences are allowed. The only excuse is a long-term illness, which must be confirmed by a doctor. In case of any absence a student is responsible for covering all the materials that were taught during the lesson he/she missed, which means that the student has to ask his/her classmates and copy from them all the handouts distributed in the lesson. The student can not expect that the teacher will give him/her any materials later. The teacher may offer consultation hours for those students who attend classes, or for those who apologise for missing a class.
EARNING CREDIT: GAINING at least 150 POINTS There will be 4 written tests during Czech classes, each test evaluated by 50 points. Besides, there will be minitests / oral testing at the beginning of the classes, where students can get some points as well. To obtain extra points students can prepare a project. At the end of the term students need to collect 150 points in total not to sit for a regular written credit test. If they do not gain the required points, they have to pass a regular written credit test. Pass mark is 65%.
FINAL ORAL EXAM: 1) Students can sit for oral exam only if they have done the written part (65% pass mark) or have collected enough points from continuous evaluations. 2) Oral exam is a structured dialog - patient vs. doctor. Students have to be able to communicate with a typical outpatient, who comes for a regular check up or emergency (injury) or because of acute or chronic pain, inflammation or basic dental problem.
RULES FOR SIGNING UP FOR TESTS OR ORAL EXAM IN SUMMER EXAMINATION PERIOD You can sit for any part of the summer credit after passing the winter one. Each student has to sign up for (or cancel) any written or oral test via SIS. You have 3 chances for the credit but only on the given dates, which means that if you come on the last date and you do not pass, there are not any other chances for you! The dates for getting the summer (both the written test and conversation) will be offered during the summer examination period.
RULES FOR STUDENTS REPEATING THE SUBJECT Students who repeat the subject will attend classes and fulfill all duties according to the requirements for other students. Poslední úprava: Brandejsová Petra (05.02.2025)
