Syntax II navazuje na základní kurz syntaxe. Soustřeďuje se na složitější syntaktické okruhy (např. polovětné vazby,
slovosled, aktuální členění, souvětí podřadné, souřadné a složité, jednotlivé typy vedlejších vět, aj.). Ve vybraných
kapitolách se rovněž uplatňuje konfrontační pojetí.

Following the basic syntactic course, Syntax II focuses on more advanced topics, e.g., non-finite clauses,
word oder, Functional sentence perspective, complex, compound and multiple sentences, individual types of
subordinate clauses, etc.). Contrastive approach is pursued in relevant topics.

Podmínky zakončení předmětu -
Po zimním semestru 2020/21 bude zkouška probíhat online.
Zkouška proběhne v každém z termínů takto: - na zkoušku se řádně přihlásíte v SISu (test bude zpřístupněn jen studentům, kteří jsou na daný termín zapsáni)
písemná část zkoušky - ráno od 9 do 10 hod test v Moodlu https://dl1.cuni.cz/course/view.php?id=8026 - současně v Moodlu označíte časy, kdy se můžete zúčastnit ústní zkoušky
ústní část zkoušky - vždy jen ti, kdo úspěšně absolvují písemnou část zkoušky - ústní zkoušky se konají vždy odpoledne v den testu a celý následující den - pozvánku na zkoušku v Zoomu Vám pošlu po vyhodnocení a kontrole písemné části (dopoledne v den testu) - v daný čas se sejdeme v Zoomu; upozorňuji, že na zkoušku musíte mít zapnutou kameru - každý student dostane jednu otázku, na kterou bez přípravy odpoví; otázka může být založena na rozboru příkladu - ústní část zkoušky trvá 15-20 minut

Attendance at the seminars is compulsory. The final assessment comprises a seminar term paper (an analysis of syntactic phenomena in a text) and an examination. Details of the seminar paper assignment will be announced during the lectures, and are available in Moodle. The seminar paper must be marked by the teacher as acceptable before the student takes the examination. The examination consists of a written test and oral interview. Both parts comprise topics covered in Syntax I and Syntax II. The assessment includes the student's proficiency and stylistically adequate use of English. In order to take the oral part of the examination, the student must pass the written test, with the score of 70% at least. If the student fails, he or she may re-sit the examination twice.
After the winter term 2020/21 the examination will be online.
The examination will be organised as follows: - the student will register for the particular date of the examination in SIS (the online test will be available only to the students registered for the particular date)
written part: - 9 - 10 am test in Moodle https://dl1.cuni.cz/course/view.php?id=8026 oral part: - only the students who have passed the written test - the oral examination is held in the afternoon on the day of the written test, and the following day in Zoom - the invitation for the oral examination will be sent to each student individually by the teacher after the written test - the student's camera must be switched on during the oral examination - the student will answer - without preparation - one question; the question may be based on the analysis of a linguistic example - the oral examination takes 15-20 minutes
