Na test je třeba se zapsat v SIS do předmětu Vstupní test z angličtiny pro IMS (JLB107). Zápis na test je otevřen v pondělí 1. 9. 2026 od 10:00 a ukončen 20. 9. ve 20:00.
ZÁPIS DO PŘEDMĚTU ANGLIČTINA PRO IMS I (JLB007) BUDE PŘIJATÝM UCHAZEČŮM OTEVŘEN ve čtvrtek 24. 9., od 10:00. UPOZORŇUJEME, ŽE STUDENTI, KTEŘÍ SE ZAPÍŠÍ PŘED TÍMTO TERMÍNEM, BUDOU Z PŘEDMĚTU SYSTÉMEM VYMAZÁNI. Výsledek testu bude oznámen nejpozději 23.9. ve 20:00; jmenný seznam přijatých studentů bude vyvěšen v Souborech předmětu Vstupní test JLB107. Bodová hranice přijetí do kurzu je pohyblivá a záleží tedy na tom, jak studenti daný rok test napíší. Studenti jsou přijímáni podle pořadí od nejvyššího počtu bodů získaného na vstupním testu do naplnění kapacity všech paralelek.

PŘIJETÍ DO KURZU S UPUŠTĚNÍM OD VSTUPNÍHO TESTU: o upuštění od vstupního testu mohou žádat studenti, kteří mají angličtinu na celkové úrovni C1 doloženou jazykovým certifikátem (příp. IELTS s výsledkem 7 a vyšším). Kopii certifikátu je nutné poslat emailem na adresu <jana.kunzova@fsv.cuni.cz> nejpozději do 12.9.(včetně). Dále mohou požádat o upuštění od testu studenti, kteří složili mezinárodní maturitu - International Baccalaureate - s dobrými výsledky a rovněž pošlou kopii oficiálních výsledků do téhož data na výše uvedenou emailovou adresu.
Studenti, kteří na testu neuspějí, se mohou zapsat do kurzu Mgr. Michaely Gloverové - English for Social Sciences I. Kapacita kurzu je omezena.
UPOZORNĚNÍ č. 1: Pokud jste se nezúčastnili vstupního testu JLB107, nemůžete se zapsat do kurzu Mgr. Michaely Gloverové.
UPOZORNĚNÍ č. 2: Studenti, kteří již dříve byli zapsáni do kurzu Angličtiny pro IMS I (JLB007) a kurz nedokončili, se nemohou přihlásit do kurzu nižší úrovně - English for Social Sciences Mgr. Michaely Gloverové.

FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR, THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION APPLIES:
Enrollment in the specialized language course English for IMS I (JLB007)is conditional upon passing the ENTRANCE TEST, which will take place on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Jinonice, room C123.
The entrance test is also mandatory for students who have completed Mgr. Michaela Gloverová's course English for Social Sciences and did not receive a grade of A or B. Students who received an A or B do not need to take the entrance test and may enroll directly using this form:

To take the entrance test, students must register in the Student Information System (SIS) for the course English Placement Test for IMS (JLB107). Registration for the test opens on Monday, September 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and closes on September 20, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
ENROLLMENT IN ENGLISH FOR IMS I (JLB007) will open for admitted applicants on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: Students who enroll before this date will be automatically removed from the course by the system.
The results of the entrance test will be announced no later than September 23 at 8:00 p.m. The list of admitted students will be published in the Files section of the JLB107 Entrance Test course. The admission cut-off score is not fixed and depends on the overall performance of students taking the test that year. Students are admitted in descending order of their test scores until all available places across the course groups have been filled.
A practice set to help you prepare for the C-test is available in the Files section of the course and on the Faculty website under "For admitted ISS, IPS and IMS students":
Students may apply for an exemption from the entrance test if they can provide proof of C1-level English proficiency through a recognized language certificate (or an IELTS score of 7.0 or higher). A copy of the certificate must be emailed to jana.kunzova@fsv.cuni.cz no later than September 12 (inclusive).
Students who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) with good results may also apply for an exemption by sending a copy of their official IB results to the same email address by the same deadline.
Students who do not pass the entrance test may enroll in Mgr. Michaela Gloverová's English for Social Sciences I course. Please note that enrollment is subject to limited capacity.
Important Notice No. 1
If you did not take the JLB107 entrance test, you cannot enroll in Mgr. Michaela Gloverová's course.
Important Notice No. 2
Students who have previously enrolled in English for IMS I (JLB007) but did not complete the course are not eligible to enroll in the lower-level course English for Social Sciences taught by Mgr. Michaela Gloverová.

Cíl předmětu -
Cílem kurzu je rozvíjet komunikační kompetence a jazykové dovednosti, které pomohou studentům ve studiu jejich oboru. Zároveň se studenti v kurzu seznámí se specifiky jazyka používaného v akademickém prostředí, zejména při ústních prezentacích, skupinových diskusích a akademickém psaní.

The aim of the course is to develop communicative competence and language skills that will help students in their study fields. The course will also introduce students to the specifics of language used in academia, especially in presentations, group discussions, and academic writing.

Studenti si osvojí slovní zásobu a jazykové dovednosti prostřednictvím studia odborných textů. Důraz se klade na čtení, na komunikaci, výměnu informací a názorů ve dvojicích nebo v malých skupinách, týmovou i individuální práci.
Pravidla využívání AI v rámci kurzu
V rámci některých aktivit kurzu budou studenti vyzváni k využití AI nástrojů, pokud s tím budou souhlasit. AI je vhodné využít pouze jako doplňkový prostředek pro brainstorming, k procvičování jazykových dovedností, k vyhledávání informací, atd. Ovšem co se týče samostatných úkolů (např. photo projekt a jiné), které budou studenti odevzdávat, je doporučeno AI nevyužívat nebo co nejméně. V rámci samostatných úkolů chcetotižvyučující znát váš názor založený na vašem kritickém myšlení, vaší úvaze a vašich argumentech. K tomu AI není potřeba. Pokud se přesto rozhodnete AI k vytvoření některých úkolů použít, pak musí být zřejmé, která část je Vaším dílem, která je vygenerována AI a jaké prompty jste použili. Vše musí být řádně označeno. I v takovém případě by mělo být pomocí AI vygenerováno max. 25% obsahu.
Jakékoli využití nástrojů umělé inteligence ze strany vyučujícího bude probíhat způsobem, který chrání osobní údaje studentů. Práce studentů nebudou použity k trénování modelu AI.

The classes will be conducted in English only.
Applied method: content-based language teaching, student-centered approach.
Students become acquainted with the specific vocabulary and its content on the basis of texts. Reading is crucial; the emphasis is also placed on communication, the exchange of information and discussions. The methods used are pair work, group work or sometimes individual work.
Rules for using AI in the Course
During certain activities of the course, students will be encouraged to use AI tools if they agree to do so. AI should be used only as a supplementary tool for brainstorming, practicing language skills, searching for information, etc.However, for individual assignments (e.g., photo projects and others) that students submit, it is recommended not to use AI or to use it as little as possible. The teacher wants to understand your own opinion based on your critical thinking, reflection, and arguments. AI is not necessary for this.
If you still decide to use AI to do some assignments, it must be clear which parts are your own work, which are generated by AI, and what prompts you have used. Everything must be clearly labelled. In such cases, no more than 25% of the content should be generated by AI.
As far as teachers’ work with AI is concerned, any use of artificial intelligence tools will be carried out in a way that protects students' personal data. Student work will not be used to train AI models.

PODMÍNKY K ZÍSKÁNÍ ZÁPOČTU:

a) Dva písemné testy v průběhu zimního semestru (cvičení ve formě: multiple-choice, gap-filling, word formation, matching, True and False, grammar exercises). V polovině semestru se bude psát test zaměřený na Worksheets no. 1-5 a Vocabulary sheets no. 1-5 (mid-term test) a druhý test (credit test) se soustřeďuje na Worksheets no. 6-10 a Vocabulary sheets no. 6-10, "Glossary" z oblasti mezinárodních vztahů (samostudium) a vybraná slovíčka/výrazy ze studentských prezentací Great Speeches.
Pro úspěšné splnění mid-termu a credit testu je třeba dosáhnout 70% správných odpovědí z celkem 50 bodů. Časový limit obou testů je 40 min.
Studenti, kteří nesplní mid-term, budou psát "complex test" v rozsahu 100 bodů, v časovém limitu 80 minut a bude třeba dosáhnout 70% úspěšných odpovědí.Test pokrývá materiál z celého semestru. Tento test mohou studenti opakovat 2x, čili mají celkem 3 pokusy.
NOTE: Pokud je předmět vyučován dvěma různými vyučujícími, je potřeba, abyste si test napsali u svého vyučujícího, který má testy připravené na míru pro svou skupinu.
d) Průběžné zasílání vyplněných Vocabulary Sheets na Moodle 1. Vyplněný Vocabulary Sheet musí být vždy zaslán nejpozději do půlnoci, která předchází hodině, ve které je daný Vocabulary Sheet probírán.

PREREQUISITES TO OBTAIN THE COURSE CREDIT FOR THE CLASS, the so called "zápočet":

a) To pass two written tests scheduled in the winter semester.The tests consist of multiple-choice, gap-filling, word formation, matching, True and False, and other grammar exercises. The first test will be based on Vocabulary sheets no. 1-5 and Worksheets no. 1-5 (mid-term test) and the second test - the credit test will be based on Vocabulary sheets no. 6-10 and Worksheets no. 6-10, the "Glossary" from the area of International Relations (self-study), and selected vocabulary/expressions from the students' presentations of Great Speeches.
It is obligatory to take the mid-term test. Time limit of the mid-term - 40 minutes. For specific dates - see the SYLLABUS FOR ENGLISH FOR IMS I .
The passing level of the mid-term and credit test is 70% of correct answers out of the total of 50 points. The time limit is 40 min.
If a student fails to pass the mid-term test, they will take a complex test - the passing level will be 70% of correct answers out of 100 points and the time limit 80 minutes. The complex test will cover the study material from the whole semester. Students have in total 3 trials - e.g. one regular and two retakes.

NOTE: If the course is taught by two different teachers, you need to take the test with your teacher, who has tailor-made tests for your group.
d) Vocabulary Sheets sent via Moodle 1 in the course of semester. A filled-out Vocabulary Sheet has to be sent no later than the midnight preceding the class in which this Vocabulary Sheet is treated (e.g. if Text 1 is treated on Thursday, then a filled-out Vocabulary sheet no. 1 has to be submitted no later than by the midnight of the day preceding, i.e. on Wednesday).
