Preventive medicine is a medical specialization that deals with the terms of health protection and health promotion. Health protection includes the study of factors of the living and working environment (biological, chemical, and physical factors) that can induce the emergence and development of diseases (especially cardiovascular, metabolic, and oncological diseases) and proposals for reduction of their risks. Health promotion includes the study of lifestyle factors that can induce the emergence and development of diseases (especially cardiovascular, metabolic, and oncological diseases) and proposals for reduction of their risks. The course of Preventive Medicine II is a continuation of the course Preventive Medicine I (during the winter semester) and contain selected chapters mainly from the field of Health Protection. The course is focused on dangerous factors in the living and occupational environment and on possibilities of primary and early secondary prevention.

Požadavky ke zkoušce - angličtina

RULES OF THE CREDIT OBTAINING:

  •          Students are required to study the seminar materials in Moodle and at least 7 days before the first seminar submit one related question for each topic (5 topics = 5 questions in total) via: (a) the questionnaire in Moodle; or (b) only if necessary, by e-mail to: michaela.hanzlova@lfhk.cuni.cz. Failure to submit the questions will result in a mandatory essay assignment. Note: Study materials for the first five seminars (Nos. 1–5) are available as presentations with recordings and/or commentaries in Moodle. All seminars will be held face-to-face.
  •          At the end of Seminars 1–5, students take a partial test on the given topic: 10 multiple-choice questions (1 point per correct answer). Students must achieve at least 70% (7/10) in each test. If a student scores below 70% in any test or misses more than one seminar, they must take a comprehensive credit test covering all seminar topics (20 multiple-choice questions), which also requires at least 70% to pass.
  •          In the last seminar (Seminar 6), students (groups of up to 4) will give a PowerPoint presentation on primary/secondary prevention of serious diseases in their home countries (~10-minute presentation + ~10-minute discussion).
  •          One absence is tolerated. With two absences, the student takes the comprehensive credit test covering all seminar topics. Avoid more than two absences (risk of repeating the year). Extraordinary cases will be handled by the Subject Guarantor together with the Head of the Department.
