Anotace

History, development and integration of the specialty Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery (ORL/HNS). Rhinology – diseases of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, knowledge of pathophysiology of respiratory mucosa. Functional endonasal surgery-from radical surgery to rehabilitation of the mucosa. Otology - audiometry, acute otitis media, chronic otitis media (OME=SOM, cholesteatoma), otosclerosis, acoustic neuroma, cochlear implants. Pediatric ENT. Pharyngology, diseases of Waldeyer lymphatic ring. ENT oncology, tumors of nasal cavity, pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer. Laryngology, phonosurgery and phoniatry. Traumatology, plastic and reconstructive surgery of head and neck area. Thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Skull base surgery. Immunological aspects of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy.

Cíl předmětu

Outputs:

1.     Students obtain theoretical knowledge of ear, nose and throat diseases.

2.     Students have practical training in examination of ear, nose, pharynx and larynx. Students obtain practical experiences in diagnostic a therapeutic procedures in otorhinolaryngology.

PRACTICAL CLASSES AND SEMINARS The aim of practical classes is demonstrate basic investigation methods, typical diseases and patients and the essentials of E.N.T. Seminars inform about current problems in specialty or some it's fundamentals with video demonstrations and other documentation. Practical classes are obligatory.      

Teaching at Simulation Center of the Faculty of Medicine:
The practical exercise focused on airway obstruction by orotracheal intubation, coniotomy and also tracheostomy takes place in the building of the theoretical institutes of the Faculty of Medicine (Šimkova street).

Anatomy: knowledge of the anatomy of the splanchnocranium, nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, pharynx, esophagus, larynx, trachea, temporal bone, external, middle and internal ear;

Biophysics: sound; audiometric examination
