Přednáška se v přehledu zabývá vnějšími i vnitřními dějinami angličtiny s důrazem jednak na nejvýznamnější sociální a kulturně-historické aspekty tohoto vývoje, jednak na proměnu jazykového systému v rámci lingvistické typologie. V těchto souvislostech a s oporou v biblických textech se probírá období staroanglické (7.-11. století), středoanglické (11.- 15. století), raně novoanglické (15.-18. století) a období pozdně novoanglické (19.-20. století). Smyslem kursu je zprostředkovat studentům pochopení základních diachronních souvislostí a přirozeně tak doplňovat ostatní lingvistické discipliny, jež se zabývají synchronním popisem angličtiny. Seminář, zaměřený jako pokračovací k přednášce "Historický vývoj anglického jazyka", probírá témata přednášky soustavněji, podrobněji a na vyšší teoretické úrovni. Práce v semináři zahrnuje jak četbu a filologickou analýzu většího počtu historických biblických textů, tak prezentaci vybraných teoretických problémů z odborné literatury s diskusí a aplikací na konkrétní jazykový materiál ve cvičeních. Všechny požadavky pro zápočet je nutné splnit do konce zkouškového období akademického roku, ve kterém si student předmět zapsal.

Podmínky zakončení předmětu -
The maximum number of points to be gained in each semester is 50 and consists of:
up to 4 pts for each of the 3 in-class tests ; up to 3 pts for each of the 3 assignments ; up to 29 pts for the final written test after each semester (based on lecture questions and text analysis) To pass for credit "zápočet" at the end of the semester, min. 14 points is required for the respective semester.
The grading of the exam "zkouška" at the end of the semester being: 45-50 pts - A/1; 39-44 pts - B/2; 33-38 pts - C/3 and less than 33- Fail.
Rules on in-class tests:
There are no re-sits for the in-class tests, nor are there any extra activities to gain additional points. Tests can only be taken on the announced dates in the seminars. If you cannot make it into your seminar on the date of the test, you may attend another seminar of that week or take the test in the office hours, but only by PRIOR (i.e. couple of days prior to the test) arrangement with your lecturer. The only exception are medical reasons. In any case, the test has to be taken in no more than two weeks after the original date of the test.
