Annotation
The course covers the fundamentals of prosthetic treatment using fixed and removable dental prostheses, the application of local anesthesia in dentistry, procedures for tooth extraction, and the use of dental instruments in dentoalveolar surgery.

Aim of the course

After finishing of this subject, students are able to:

  1. describe malpositions of individual teeth, groups of teeth, dental arches and categorize dental arch defects,
  2. prepare a model tooth for a fixed prosthetic work,
  3. assist in the planning and fabrication of a removable prosthesis,
  4. extract a model tooth and assist with complicated tooth extraction,
  5. treat the model wound in the oral cavity with a suture.

Requirements to the exam

Credit

  1. 100% attendance at practical classes (any absence must be made up).
  2. All tests must be passed with a minimum of 80%, including the final credit test.
  3. Each tooth preparation must be completed with at least 80% success. If not achieved, the student must repeat the preparation during free time with another group.
  4. Home assignment preparations must be completed with at least 80% success (15 – all-ceramic crown, 33 – combined crown, 44 – onlay)
  5. During any form of knowledge assessment (ongoing tests, final credit test, or exam), including preparation time, the use of any aids, written sources, or electronic devices (mobile phones, palmtops, laptops, etc.) is strictly prohibited. If a student is caught violating this rule, they will receive a "fail" grade. The same applies to any form of cheating or communication with another student during an assessment.

 Examination

Students may only take the final exam if they have received credit for the course.

Note

Entry into the phantom laboratory is only allowed while wearing a lab coat and indoor shoes, with the mobile phone switched off.

Students are responsible for the equipment at their workstation and must follow all safety guidelines for working in the phantom lab.

Eating and drinking are strictly prohibited.

Any damage to the provided equipment (e.g., preclinical simulator, handpiece, etc.) must be immediately reported to the instructor, and arrangements must be made for reimbursement.

Students are expected to be properly prepared in the theoretical knowledge directly related to the practical topic of the day.

As a substitute for missed practical sessions, assisting during clinical practice may be accepted after agreement with the instructor.

In the case of repeating a study obligation, the student is required to complete the study obligation in its entirety.
