Aim of the course

Outcomes (knowledge and clinical skills):  

1) Establish the knowledge of clinical examination of the patients, differential diagnosis and therapy.  

2) Knowledge of the essentials of cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes and nephrology.

Requirements to the exam

Participation in seminars and practicals  

A maximum of two excused absences are allowed. Excused absences must be sent only in advance in the excuse form. In case of a higher number of absences, the situation will be resolved individually with the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine.

 

Exam 

First and second attempt: Test in Moodle, which will be graded as follows:  

> 85 % excellent 

70 -85 % very good 

50-69 % good 

Third attempt: commissional oral exam

The lectures will be a combination of face-to-face lectures, online lectures and online self-study without time allocation, introducing students to the basics of cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes and nephrology.

Diabetes mellitus and its complications.

Acute and chronic renal failure, haemodialysis.  

Glomerular diseases.  

 

Practicals:

Students will complete 15 practicals which will focus on:  

• mastering the basic clinical examination of a patient 

• presentation of typical cases to demonstrate the principles of differential diagnosis and therapy 

• learning about the specialised departments of internal medicine clinics
