Aim of the course

Results:

1. The student acquires theoretical knowledge of the classification of periodontal diseases, periodontal examination, and periodontal treatment.
2. The student acquires basic practical skills in periodontal examination and treatment using models in the phantom laboratory.

Course assessment methods and requirements for successful completion, grading scheme

Credit

Credit will be awarded to students who:

1. have properly completed the practical training in the given semester (any absence must be duly compensated),
2. have demonstrated sufficient knowledge during continuous assessment,
3. pass the credit test with a minimum score of 75%. If a student fails to achieve at least 75% in the credit test, an oral examination covering the subject matter will follow.

   In the case of repeating a study requirement, the student is obliged to complete the study requirement in its entirety.

Practical courses & seminars

Practical classes take place in the phantom laboratory of the Department of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Hradec Králové. Students practice periodontal examination on models, calculus removal, and instrument maintenance (sharpening/grinding).
