The study programme prepares teachers of Czech as a foreign/second language to educate non-native speakers of Czech at various levels according to the CEFR, in the context of the current development of research into second/foreign language acquisition and new methods in foreign language teaching.
The concept of the program contains three main components of preparation: education/psychology, profession-based subjects, and subject teaching.
The program includes a sophisticated system of teaching practice that introduces students to the environment of various schools and different approaches to teaching. The program also emphasizes a high-quality professional foundation.

Graduate profile for the public:
Based on the interconnection of the above-stated curricular areas, the graduate of the study programme will have established the essential competence for the teaching profession: he/she will have formed an attitude towards himself/herself as a beginning teacher and will possess the key knowledge and skills necessary to start a professional career.
Upon successful completion of the Master's degree in Teaching Czech as a Second Language, the graduate will have:
a) fully developed competencies in the area of general teacher training and subject-teacher training, necessary for exercising the teaching profession in the Czech language and related fields, as well as for working in other professional positions in the education system, state administration, etc., for which the teaching qualification at the level of the master's study is relevant;
(b) fully developed professional competencies in the field of Czech linguistics at such a level as to enable him/her to hold any position which requires such qualification at the level of a postgraduate diploma;
(c) professional competencies developed to a level that would enable him/her to apply for further doctoral studies primarily in the study programmes Czech Language, Applied Linguistics with a focus on Didactics of Language, Pedagogy, and related fields.
In general teaching, the student acquires the competencies, knowledge, and skills that correspond to the threshold level of the standard of a beginning teacher and are necessary to enter the teaching profession, including practical teaching skills. Thus, the graduate can successfully apply as a beginning teacher in primary and secondary schools.
In subject-teaching, the study of teaching Czech as a second language focuses on developing the foundations of subject-specific didactic skills relevant to the teaching profession in the given field and related areas, primarily philology. Additionally, the student will have acquired the foundations of practical teaching skills in this field, including reflective teaching practice, which will facilitate the graduate's transition to the teaching profession.
In the subject area, the Master's degree in Teaching Czech as a Second Language aims at developing competencies related to the field, i.e. Czech linguistics (and stylistics included therein), epistemology, and fundamental procedures. Graduates have structured disciplinary knowledge, are oriented in the field, its current issues, and problems, and can apply their disciplinary knowledge and insight into the contemporary developments in the discipline to their practice. Furthermore, the graduates will be able to further develop their disciplinary competence continuously.
