Study programmes

The study program is based on key disciplines within the four main geographical fields - physical, social and regional geography and cartography with geoinformatics. Furthermore, a group of didactic and pedagogical courses are included, connected with general pedagogical and psychological disciplines (provided by the Faculty of Arts, Charles University). Also, the field research courses and teaching practice - inspections in classes at elementary and secondary schools are included in the program. The study program draws on current scientific knowledge gained from project research carried out by involved workplaces. Furthermore, the didactic transformation of the curriculum applied mainly within practical lessons takes part of geographical courses. The program is usually conducted in combination with biology (Faculty of Science), mathematics (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics), physical education (Faculty of Physical education and sport), also, possible combinations are with another similarly oriented programs within Charles University. Students choose the full, maior or the minor plan according to the focus of their Diploma thesis.
