The aim of the course is to (i) provide students guidance with writing the bachelor thesis, (ii) provide information about the state final exam, and (iii) help students to prepare for the defence of their bachelor thesis and for the state final exam.

Seminar 1 (February 23): Information about bachelor thesis and about the course (František Čech, IES) Seminar 2 (March 2): Academic Writing (Lucie Poslušná, Department of Foreign Languages) · March 9: Individual consultations, first-come first-serve · March 16: Individual consultations, first-come first-serve · Seminar 3 (April 13): Information about the state final exam (Julie Chytilová, IES) · Seminar 4 (May 4): Discussion with a recent graduate of the bachelor program (Adam Horáček) – state final exam and defence of the thesis + presentation of the graduate - (František Čech, IES) · Seminar 5 (May 11): Presentation skills, tips and tricks (Tomáš Richter, IES) · Home assignment (instructions will be sent out on May 11 – deadline on May 24). Students will work in teams and provide (i) recorded thesis presentation, (ii) recorded Q&A session during which students will demonstrate their ability to defend their thesis, and (iii) written feedback evaluating a colleague´s performance. Each student will receive personal feedback. (Michaela Gloverová Konečná – Department of Foreign Languages) Mock defense presentations (June 1 – June 5). Students can use the opportunity to rehearse their defense presentation and get feedback on it from the teachers of the course and from the Department of Foreign Languages. The thesis supervisor and anyone else can be also invited for the presentation. Each student has a 30 minute slot.
