Cílem kurzu European Virtual Seminar on Sustainable Development je podporovat mezinárodní a multidisciplinární dialog v otázkách udržitelného rozvoje. Hlavním rysem EVS je týmová práce studentů ve skupině složené na mezinárodní úrovni (kurzu se účastní studenti z 11 evropských zemí). Členové jednotlivých skuopin jsou studenti různých vědních oborů, u kurzu je tak zaručen transdiciplinární přístup k problematice udržitelného rozvoje. Studenti pracují na případových studiích zejména v oblasti regionální agendy udržitelného rozvoje vztažené na evropskou politiku udržitelného rozvoje (biodiverzita, komunikaci trvale udržitelného rozvoje, územního plánování, zemědělství). Výsledkem práce je případová studie. Pedagogický efekt EVS je založen na zážitkovém a virtuálním kolaborativním učení.

Through modern communication technology, the course aims at promoting an international and multidisciplinary dialogue on
the issues of sustainable development among students from different universities in nine European countries. The main
feature of the course is teamwork in student groups composed on the international basis. As the groups consists of students
of different backgrounds, the transdisciplinary approach is enhanced. Groups work on case studies concerning the
particular regional agenda related to the European policy on sustainable development, such as the biodiversity of Romanian
forests, the issue of communicating sustainable development, spatial planning in Dehesa, agriculture in Poland. The team
product is the resolved case study consisting of problem analysis, scientific background and policy recommendations. The
pedagogic effect of the course is based on experiential and virtual collaborative learning.

Sylabus -
V první fázi kurzu (2 týdny), studenti plní individuální aktivity - seznamování se s prostředím výuky a ostatními účastníky kurzu. V druhé fázi kurzu (4 týdny) jsou studenti zapsáni do jednotlivých pracovních skupin (4-6 studenti) na základě národnosti, studijního oboru a instituce tak, aby skupiny byly co nejrozmanitější. V této fázi studenti musí v rámci skupiny zahájit spolupráci, zvolit si téma případové studie a napsat návrh jejího zpracování. Ve třetí fázi kurzu (6 týdnů), se skupina věnuje výzkumu, konzultuje průběh práce a její výsledek. Ke každé skupině studentů je přidělen jeden tutor, který skupinu celým kurzem provádí, odbornou stránku projektu studenti konzultují s expertem oboru.

In the first phase of the course (2 weeks) the students fulfil individual activities as introducing themselves to other students and become familiar to the electronic learning environment. In the second phase of the course (4 weeks) the students are enrolled into a heterogeneous student group (4-6 students) based on nationality, study discipline, institution and sex. From now on they have to co-operate, work together and learn from each other fulfilling activities as writing and rewriting the group research proposal. In the third phase of the course (6 weeks) the student group members are doing research, consulting stakeholders, and deliver the group report and policy summary. Each student group is coached and monitored by a tutor, and the group can consult an expert for questions about the content of the case study.

Vstupní požadavky -
Studium třetího ročníku bakalářského studia a vyšší.
Velmi dobrá znalost anglického jazyka slovem i písmem.
Pravidelný přístup k internetu (nejméně jednou týdně).
Zájem o problematiku udržitelného rozvoje v kontextu evropské unie, mezinárodní spolupráci podporovanou moderní ICT.

Study in the third or later academic year is recommended due to demand on advanced performance of particular academic skills (search and information assessment, academic writing). English language, fluent reading, writing. Regular access to Internet (at least once a week, preferably more). Interest in sustainable development issues and EU policy. Interest in international co-operation supported by modern ICT.
