Kurz seznamuje studenty s fenoménem nacionalismu prostřednictvím vytváření a (zne)užívání historie v procesu budování státu a národa. Zaměřuje se na oblast Centrální Eurasia (Střední Asia a Kavkaz) související širší oblasti (Střední východ, postsovětský prostor, Střední/Východní Evropa). Kromě přehledu teoretických pojmů budou prozkoumány případové studie různých historických mýtů.

Learning outcomes of the course: Specific knowledge The ability to employ research and develop analytical and argumentation skills are indispensable features for those willing to succeed in the course. In addition to learning basic facts on the topic of the course, this seminar-style course is intended to develop methodological and analytical skills among the students. Students are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the basics of the history of the Caucasus and Central Asia. Transferable skills Capacity for logical inference, distinguishing between history and historical myth. Students are encouraged to explore and apply the historical myths used by historiography, politicians, or historians in their own home countries/regions in their in-class presentations, discussions, and final interviews. In the process of learning, students are expected to sharpen their abilities in conducting a discussion, delivering a presentation, and drafting an argumentative piece. To achieve these skills, students should behave cooperatively and mutually supportively.
