Annotation:
The course will introduce theories of systemic thinking about media, comparative method, and other perspectives on media and society. The course will also cover media landscapes of selected countries with emphasis on their historical developments, key trends, and contemporary situation. Goals: The course will provide the students with basic overview of global media landscape and of variations and dynamics of media "systems" in individual countries. They will learn to distinguish key features of a media landscape and to think about media outlets and media organization on a holistic level, in context of their various complex interactions. The students will also learn about how some particular media systems function.
