Anotace
The course is focused on understanding the finances and financial management of the company. In its framework, the basic problems associated with decision-making in the field of company finances will be solved. The course introduces students to issues related to management, managerial functions, goals and tools of business management, business organizations, manager's personality, financial management and long-term financial management.
Key Learning Goals:
The overarching learning objective of the course is to familiarize students with the field of corporate finance. Finances are tied to everything, they circulate in all parts of the company, in some places they are less visible, in others more. You all may encounter corporate finance, and therefore the aim of the course is to help you get to know and understand the corporate finance system.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
− gain an understanding of accounting statements - they should understand what to look for and find in the statements, what they tell about, how they are interconnected,
− become more familiar with the basic methods of financing, their advantages and disadvantages in relation to the assets that the company needs to finance and the demands on the cost of capital,
− take decisions about the further need for investments, when to take them and where to take additional capital for investments.
− look at the company as a whole through a comprehensive assessment of its activity reflected in financial results, i.e. financial analysis,
− Come closer to strategic financial decisions within the company, about the appropriate setting of the capital structure, including deciding whether dividends should be retain (and re-invest) or paid out.
