The entry-level competence for this course is B2 (CEFR) and the course will further improve upon this level. The course is a follow up of Practical Course of Turkish V. The focus of this course shifts from grammar and text based language acquisition to seminars with native speaker and spoken communication, language production and comprehension. <br>

The course will make use of the textbook Yeni Hitit: Yabancılar için Türkçe – Yüksek B2-C1. And will be enhanced by materials of the lecturers. In order to facilitate the acquisition of vocabulary, materials will be prepared in Quizlet (https://quizlet.com/).<br>

The successful completion of this course is conditioned by acquiring sufficient number of points (at least 66%+ of the maximum number). The points can be acquired from following:

Homeworks: 15 x 15b (max.225b) – submitted on time through LMS (Moodle or Google Classroom)

There will be a Turkish novel selected and certain parts of the novel will be assigned for weekly reading. Weekly assessment from the selected novel will be made with discussions and homework assignments.

Presence: 39 x 5b (max.195b)

Vocabulary / short tests / essays during semester / presentations: max.100b

Students are expected to prepare two presentations by using audio visual materials. Presentation topics must be approved by the instructor beforehand and to be presented on the announced date.

Final test: 80b – combination of following:

1) linguistic competence (expression of ideas, translation, usage of grammar)

2) knowledge-based grammar test – there will be a list of questions concerning Turkish grammar at the end of the semester (e.g. how does a specific construction work, illustration of specific grammar on examples, formal paradigmes, explanation of the usage of a morpheme, ...)

Final oral exam: 120b – The final exam will consist of two separate modules.

1)     First part will be about the evaluation of comprehension and explanation skills of the students regarding the novel read during the semester.

2)     Second part will be a general oral discussion about pre-selected general topics such as history, travel, culture, etc.
