SP characteristics

The Master's program Jewish Studies is focused on providing advanced knowledge in the field of Jewish Studies. It offers the study of Judaism as a religious system, values of which create – together with Christianity – spiritual ground of Europe. The student is equipped with advanced knowledge of original biblical languages (Biblical Hebrew, Biblical Aramaic) and Modern Hebrew (Ivrit), rabbinic literature, Jewish mysticism and Jewish philosophy. The program focuses on rabbinic literature, Jewish mysticism and Jewish philosophy. The program is certified with the state final exam. The aim of the Master's study is to prepare graduates for application of their knowledge in their professional occupation or further study of Jewish Studies and similar academic fields in Doctoral programs, where they can apply their knowledge of Judaism and language skills.

Graduate profile for the public:
In the course of study, the graduate of the Bachelor's program Jewish Studies acquires knowledge of Judaism as a religious system with a focus on the specific issues of rabbinic literature, Jewish mysticism and Jewish philosophy. The graduate is provided with advanced knowledge of original biblical (Biblical Hebrew, Biblical Aramaic) and Modern Hebrew (Ivrit).
The graduate of the program is skilled to work with primary and secondary texts in original languages, interpret original religious texts in a creative way, analyse their internal structure of arguments, analyse and critically evaluate complex and controversial issues in their own contexts. The graduate can find occupation in Judaism-related fields: cultural institutions, educational institutions, diplomatic services, and private or public media.
The graduate is qualified to pursue his or her studies in the Doctoral program Jewish Studies.
