The students will be first introduced to the libraries of the faculty of Arts and the informational services they provide. Thy will also be introduced with the services provided by library system of the Czech Republic, so they are able to acquire the physical copies of documents they need. Then students will be introduced to research in free and paid digital information sources, along with proper citations with accordance to Citation Formats used for the appropriate field. The students will be introduced to the possibilities of publication and they will be informed about possibilities of grants. A part of the course is also an explanation of the technical aspects, and recommendations for presentations (work with Pdf Documents, the creation of a PPT presentation). 1st session- Introduction to the services of the Library if the faculty of arts and libraries in general, the library stocks, borrowing rules, Union catalogue of the Czech republic, Interlibrary loans, Tour of the Jan Palach Library. 2nd session- Introduction to Electronic information sources I- the basic research in sources available to the Faculty of arts or free sources. Basics in research techniques, citation and Citation formats, use of citation managers 3rd session- Preparation of a presentation- revising documents, creating a PDF (including the basics of how to create a valid PDF/S file), techniques for creating a PPT presentations, document sharing, recommendations of free tools for work with documents, organization of work, and time. 4th session- Introduction to Electronic information sources II - Feedback on the task from session 2, revision, tips on improvement, narrowing of the research questions etc. 5th Session- Science Evaluation, Publication- Introduction to evaluation of Scholarship, Introduction of publication methods, predators, grants possibilities available for the students of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. |

The seminar will be realised in the form of 5 sessions of 90 minutes, and the student will be given tasks to complete. For each session and task the student can receive up to 20 points (total 100 points). To receive credit (4 credits) the student must earn 80 points. |

The seminar is for students of all grades of bachelors and masters studies, its recommended for students of the lower grades. |
