Pokročilý laboratorní kurz zaměřený na morfologii, ultrastrukturu a determinaci parazitických prvoků. Posluchači se budou moci seznámit s celou řadou parazitických protist formou demonstrace živých kultur, pitev hostitelů a především barvených trvalých preparátů.

Advanced laboratory course focused on morphology, ultrastructure and determination of parasitic protists. Parasitic protists will be demonstrated in the form of living cultures, dissections of hosts and mainly in the form on fixed and stained preparations.

The requirement for credits is the participation in the course, successful completion of the determination of the test set of microscopic slides, interpretation of photographs from the electron microscope and knowledge of the principles of methods performed on the practice.

26.2. Introduction, Kinetoplastea I. Basic ultrastructure of euglenozoa, characteristics of the main groups. Single-host kinetoplastids. Morphological forms in the developmental cycles of trypanosomatids.
5.3. Kinetoplastea II. Pathogenic trypanosomes and leishmania, vector and vertebrate stages, microscopic determination of the main representatives.
12.3. Diplomonadida and Retortamonadida. Ultrastructure, demonstration of the main representatives.
19.3. Praeaxostyla and Parabasalia. Demonstration of pathogenic trichomonads of humans and animals. Morphological differentiation of pathogenic and non-pathogenic human trichomonads.
26.3. Pathogenic amphizoid amoebae. Naegleria, Acanthamoeba, Balamuthia. Ultrastructure, demonstration of the main representatives.

Identification of theileria and babesia on blood smears and tissue impressions. Malaria agents and their microscopic diagnosis. Determination of parasitaemia.
