IMPORTANT: THE COURSE BEGINS DURING THE SECOND WEEK OF THE SEMESTER ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24. Language planning and language policy (LPP) are disciplines that belong to the field of sociology of language. First, several key concepts are introduced and classical and more modern research approaches/paradigms are compared (LPP, language management). Then, overviews of the situation of the relevant language communities are presented (German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish). The division into status planning, corpus planning, and acquisition planning is taken into account. Participants are expected to study the seminar texts and to prepare a presentation on a selected topic. The presentation will consist of a summary of the relevant literature, of data collection, data evaluation and data interpretation embedded in a theoretical framework. Depending on the total number of participants, groups may be formed. These activities may serve as a basis for potential master’s theses.<br> Poslední úprava: Dovalil Vít, PhDr. Mgr., Ph.D. (08.02.2026)
