Anotace
From a critical perspective, the course focuses on the intercultural dynamics among the members of multicultural groups/teams in various work and life environments. The lectures integrate conversational, social, cognitive, and sensory methodologies when examining culture as a dynamic construct. The primary goal is to underscore how culture is co-constructed and (re)negotiated among participants through a multimodal lens. This perspective is illustrated in various examples, ranging from educational settings to online video platforms. Additionally, the course provides a fresh perspective on existing models and theories of intercultural dimensions. It highlights the risks of superficial generalization, demonstrating how language differences, communication style differences, and stereotyping, viewed through a multimodal lens, can either hinder or facilitate successful interactions. ALL CLASSES WILL BE HELD ONLINE.
