Setkáme se se strategickým myšlením jen na bojišti, nebo je důležitou součástí našeho každodenního života? Seminář strategické interakce a rozhodování se pokusí ukázat, že strategické úvahy jsou všudypřítomné. Seznámení s přístupem známým v ekonomii i jiných společenských vědách jako "teorie her" nám umožní vidět chování racionálních agentů, jako jsou firmy, politické strany, nebo (aspoň občas) i my sami, v nové perspektivě. Hrami se budeme navzdory názvu semináře zabývat nejen teoreticky.

Is strategic thinking confined to battlefield? Or is it an important part of our everyday lives? The seminar in strategic interaction and decision-making will show the omnipresence of strategic deliberation. We will get acquainted with an approach known in economics as well as other social sciences as "game theory". It will allow us to see the behavior of rational agents like firms, political parties and (at least sometimes) also ourselves from a new angle. Despite the name of the seminar, our interest in games and strategies will not be just theoretical.

Cíl předmětu

Upon successful completion of the course the students will:

• recognize the strategic elements of human actions in theory and in practice
• gain insight into the basics of the game theory
• have direct experience with strategic dilemmas in simplified experimental form

Podmínky zakončení předmětu

• Minimum for successful completion of the course is 60 points (out of 100).
• Max 40 points for active participation in the seminars.
• 4 written home assignments (cca 3600 characters) during the semester based on application of the concepts and ideas under discussion (max 15 points each = 60 points).
• For successful completion of the course, it is necessary to hand in all four assignments.
