Seminář ekonomické argumentace a analýzy, který rozvíjí praktické využívání ekonomického stylu myšlení v kontextu humanitních věd. Důležitou součástí semináře je čtení ekonomických textů a textů o ekonomii z perspektivy dalších společenskovědních a humanitních disciplín. O získaných poznatcích budeme diskutovat a půjde nám především o aktivní porozumění a aplikaci abstraktních ekonomických konceptů na běžné každodenní situace.

The seminar develops the ability of practical economic thinking in the context of humanities. We will read and discuss economic texts and texts on economics from the perspective of other social sciences and humanities. The aim is to grasp the key economic concepts in a way that allows you to apply them in everyday situations and also to be avare of the (possible) limitations of the economic approach.

Upon successful completion of the course the students will:

1. gain a firmer grasp of basic tools of economic analysis that will help them to prepare for the final state exam ("SVIP")
2. be able to orient themselves in economic texts (both popular and professional) and to interpret and assess them correctly
3. see economics as a discipline from within as well as from the perspective of other social sciences

• Minimum for successful completion of the course is 60 points.
• 5 points for active participation in a seminar (max 12x5 = 60 points).
• 4 written home assignments (cca 3600 characters) during the semester based on application of the concepts and ideas under discussion (max 10 points each = 40 points). For succesful completion of the course, it is necessary to hand in all four homeworks.
