work-life balance, stress, and time management through case studies and self-coaching. Important aspects like
scientific ethics, misconduct, and open data are also covered. Next, the course emphasizes team behavior,
leadership, motivation, decision-making, and performance management, integrated with communication
techniques. Finally, funding schemes and strategies for writing competitive project proposals will be discussed,
blending theory with practical applications.

The course focuses on the issues of personal development and introduction to selected social competences useful for working in the academic environment. It provides findings e. g. from the fields of personality psychology and social psychology in applied form. The lectures also include topics from the areas of personal management focused on work and life balance (coping with stress, time management). The course will be using case studies, experiential techniques and self-coaching techniques. In addition to competences named above skills more focused on particularities of academic environment and science, such as scientific ethics and misconduct or open data will be covered. Learning outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to develop and apply personal and social competences, including empathy, emotional and social intelligence, and awareness of social dynamics in professional environments. They will demonstrate effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills, active listening, and the ability to adapt communication styles to different contexts. Students will apply principles of argumentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution, including mediation strategies. They will present ideas clearly and confidently and demonstrate effective self-presentation skills. Students will identify sources of stress, recognize risks of workaholism and burnout, and apply basic stress-management and time-management strategies. They will understand principles of scientific ethics, responsible conduct of research, and open data practices. Students will be able to navigate basic research funding systems at national and European levels, identify major funding bodies and grant schemes, and understand the structure and evaluation of research proposals and peer review processes. Finally, students will gain orientation in career paths in academia, industry, and policy-making, and demonstrate readiness for job applications and interviews.
