Cílem předmětu je poskytnout přehled moderních databázových systémů pro ukládání, správu a zpracování různých
typů dat. Navazuje na klasické databáze a vysvětluje nové přístupy v oblasti distribuovaného zpracování, Big Data,
NoSQL, multi-modelových a specializovaných databází. U vybraných systémů probírá datové modely, dotazování,
použití, výhody a omezení. Součástí je klasifikace, současné trendy a evoluce databázových systémů. Cvičení
přinášejí praktickou zkušenost s vybranými systémy.

The course provides an overview of modern database systems for storing, managing, and processing different
types of data. It builds on classical databases and explains new approaches in distributed processing, Big Data,
NoSQL, multi-model, and specialised databases. For selected systems, it discusses data models, querying, use
cases, advantages, and limitations. It also covers classification, current trends, and database system evolution.
Labs provide practical experience with selected systems.
