Smyslem kurzu je systematicky a do hloubky představit základní model klasické křesťanské etiky a její témata.
Nepůjde o specificky teologickou etiku založenou na pramenech zjevení, nýbrž o možnosti filosofické etiky vycházet
vstříc křesťanskému požadavku etické objektivity (ne-relativistického pojetí etiky). Takto pojímaná křesťanská etika
je srovnávána především se dvěma význačnými novověkými proudy: s britskou empiristickou tradicí a s
kantovským racionalismem.

The purpose of the course is to present the basic model of classical Christian ethics and its themes in a systematic and in-depth manner. The course will not concern a specifically theological ethics based on the sources of revelation, but the possibilities of philosophical ethics to meet the Christian demand for ethical objectivity (a non-relativistic conception of ethics). Christian ethics conceived in this way is compared in particular with two prominent modern currents: the British empiricist tradition and Kantian rationalism.

1) Filosofická a teologická etika; morálka a morální život; chování a jednání. 2) Dějinné koncepce přirozeného zákona: Aristotelés, antické a středověké právní teorie, Tomáš Akvinský, John Locke, současnost (např. John Finnis). 3) Hierarchie zákona podle Tomáše Akvinského. 4) Teoretický rozum a praktický rozum: jejich vzájemně nezávislé principy; přirozený zákon jako základ praktické racionality. 5) Praktický rozum a přirozené inklinace; přirozenost a její intencionalita (přirozené inklinace z metafyzického hlediska). 6) Tomášova etika hodnot. 7) Blaženost jako poslední cíl; jedinost posledního cíle a mnohost „hodnot o sobě“ 8) Ctnosti mezi Platónem, Aristotelem a Tomášem Akvinským; soudobá virtue ethics. 9) Etické teorie v empiristické tradici: David Hume; utilitarismus J.-S. Milla. 10) Teleologie vs. deontologie; Kantův racionalismus, Ch. Korsgaard, E. Tugendhat 11) Komunitarismus: A. MacIntyre.
