Magisterský volitelný kurz "Who controls the past, controls the future?" je koncipován jako přehled reflexivní problematiky dějin - tj. problematiky politického využívání minulosti, otázek kolektivní paměti, měnícího se vztahu soudobých evropských společností k minulosti a proměn role akademických historiků v jejich rámci. Studentům kurz poskytne základní přehled teorií paměti (Halbwachs, Nora, Ricœur, manželé Assmanovi), politických přístupů (využívání paměti, omlouvání se za minulost, otázka historických resentimentů), hypotéz vysvětlujících změny vztahu západních společností k minulosti (režimy historicity, presentismus) a reakcí akademické historiografie (volání po svobodě historie, problematika výuky dějepisu).
Poslední úprava: PhDr. David Emler, Ph.D. (06.01.2020)

The seminar offers introduction to the concepts of memory (Halbwachs, Nora, Ricœur, Jan & Aleida Assman), political approaches to the past (uses of the past, repentance, and resentments), hypothesis explaining the changing role of the western civilizations to the past (regimes of historicity, presentism) and reactions of academic historiography (freedom to history calls, question of history education).
