The aim of internships is to enable students to gain practical experience in organizations of the public sector (civil service & state administration, local government, non-governmental organizations, etc.) or private companies delivering public sector-relevant services. In the course of their internships, students are to learn and rehearse practical skills as well as gain access to data for their diploma theses. Department of Public and Social Policy takes great care of helping to broker top employment opportunities for its graduates. To this end, it maintains and continues to expand a network of partner organisations to which students have access during their studies in the form of compulsory work placements and internships. These include the most prestigious and useful public administration organisations, non-profit organisations, think tanks and corporations from the private sector. Regular opportunity fairs are held throughout the year and the experience of students and employers is continuously evaluated. It is slowly becoming a rule that our trainees in partner organisations remain in permanent employment after their internship/placement. And if they don't, they leave with a sensational experience and an item on their CV that carries a lot of weight in subsequent job interviews.
The internship takes place either in concentrated form over the summer holidays or spread over the school term. The minimum duration of the internship is 80 hours. However, longer periods or longer internships can be arranged and accepted. A catalogue of partner organisations is available to students. Information about current opportunities with partner organisations can be found on the department's Facebook account. However, the catalogue and the list of offers are for guidance only. Students can arrange an internship with any organization as long as it meets the general criteria of the field. A bilateral agreement can be concluded with the relevant organisation, which is signed by the Dean on behalf of the Faculty. If an agreement with a partner organisation is required, a minimum of 14 days should be allowed for the agreement to be processed. However, the agreement is not a requirement. In the absence of an agreement between the faculty and the partner organisation, it is the student's responsibility to ensure that he/she receives a confirmation letter and evaluation report signed by a representative of the receiving institution (forms available in the IS).

Do 14 dní od absolvování stáže sepíše student/ka Zprávu z praxe, kterou spolu s podepsaným hodnocením poskytovatele stáže předá garantovi předmětu.
Student/ka se zúčastní závěrečného setkání, kde budou prezentuje a diskutuje své zkušenosti se získáním praxe a jejím průběhem.
Mezi nejčastější instituce patří orgány veřejné správy (z ministerstev především MPSV, MMR, MV, dále potom krajské úřady, ale i městské části) a neziskové organizace poskytující sociální služby. Příklady z minulého semestru: Evropská rozvojová agentura, Městská část Praha 9, Sdružení pro integraci a migraci.
