Abstract:
Critical Menstruation Studies is an interdisciplinary field exploring menstruation's social, cultural, and political dimensions. In light of recent developments surrounding reproductive health policies and abortion laws, there is a growing recognition of the need for an intersectional and comprehensive approach to menarche, pregnancy, and menopause within public discourse, which necessitates a departure from traditional perspectives on menstruation. The course aims to cultivate a profound awareness of current body politics, encouraging critical thinking in interpreting global and local discussions on body, power, and agency in embodiment research.

Course objectives:
• Explore the evolution of Critical Menstruation Studies as a young discipline in embodiment research.
• Examine theories, methods, and concepts in menstrual/reproductive health research.
• Trace contemporary menstrual activism and its impact on social change.
• Analyze the intersection of body, power, and agency in embodiment research.
