Anotace - angličtina
PLEASE NOTE: the first seminar will take place on Tuesday 2.10. (instead on 3.10.) at 18:30 in the room J4019. Apologies for any inconvenience. The other seminars will take place according to the schedule on Wednesdays.

The aim of this course is to introduce selected contemporary theoretical and analytical approaches to security. The first part will focus on how security and security politics have been understood in the Cold War and post-Cold War era and then, it will present the Copenhagen School and the Paris School as two important theoretical perspectives from the newly established camp of critical security studies. The second part of the course will deal with the theory and analysis of security based on the concept of risk, which helps understand the specificities of today’s security challenges.
