Na příkladu kulturního prostředí lze zkoumat zásadní proměny středoevropské společnosti jdoucí od dožívajících tradic konce 19. století, přes reakci na traumatický zážitek první světové války, příchod nových médií a masové kultury v meziválečném prostředí až po druhou světovou válku. Kurz seznamuje studenty s problematikou nepopisným způsobem na vybraných klíčových tématech kultury a umění.
