Kurz probíhá v zimním semestru a je určen pro studenty bakalářského a magisterského studia, kteří si zapisují angličtinu jako druhý cizí jazyk a dosáhli úrovně středně pokročilý. Přednostně se do tohoto kurzu mohou zapisovat studenti programu mezinárodních teritoriálních studií a česko-německých studií IMS, v případě volné kapacity i studenti dalších oborů IMS.
Kabinet jazykové přípravy nabízí dva typy kurzu - semináře Mgr Gloverové pokryjí v ZS první dva moduly učebnice New English File Upper-intermediate (gramatika i slovní zásoba bude důkladně vysvětlena a procvičena, vhodné pro studenty, kteří potřebují základy jazyka upevnit, aby mohli své znalosti dále rozvíjet)
- semináře Mgr Proškové pokryjí v ZS první čtyři moduly učebnice New English File Upper-intermediate (ve zrychleném režimu, vhodné pro studenty, kteří mají v používání angličtiny větší praxi i sebedůvěru) a nad rámec kurzu nabídnou výrazné rozšíření odborné slovní zásoby v oblasti politiky, společnosti, ekonomiky...

The course takes place in the winter term and is designed for all students of bachelor and master studies who take English as their second foreign language, in preference for the students of International Territorial Studies and Czech-German Studies (or other courses within the FSV or other UK faculties if there is free capacity).
The Language Dept. offers two types of courses - Mgr Gloverova's seminars will cover Moduls 1 and 2 from The New English File Upper-intermediate coursebook (grammar and vocabulary will be thoroughly explained and practised, suitable for students who need to solidify their language skills, to be able to develop them further)
- Mgr Proskova's seminars will cover Moduls 1 to 4 from The New English File Upper-intermediate coursebook (at a faster pace, suitable for students who have had greater experience and confidence using English) and will emphasize building relevant advanced vocabulary around the topics of politics, society, economy...
Attendance is not mandatory but participation is strongly recommended!!!
The study materials used in the classes are solely for the use of the students of the English I. course. Any circulation of the materials is prohibited.

Students will improve their speaking, writing, listening and reading skills as well as grammar and vocabulary at an upper intermediate level (B2), so that they are able to communicate in everyday situations. The course bridges the gap between secondary school English and English used by a university student.

During the seminars not only a classical teacher-centred approach is used but also a discovery technique when students themselves find out the grammar rules or try to form new words from the root ones. Also, the multiple intelligence theory is used which can cater for the needs of all types of learners (audiovisual, kinesthetic, spatial intelligence etc.).
