Kurz je určen pro posluchače studia mezinárodních vztahů, kteří dosáhli vyšší střední úrovně (B2). V kurzu se studenti obeznámí se slovní zásobou používanou v oblasti mezinárodních vztahů.Kurz v letním semestru je zakončen zkouškou. Klasifikace proběhne formou klasifikační stupnice A-F - viz požadavky ke zkoušce.
Prerekvizitou pro tento kurz je úspěšné absolvování kurzu English for International Studies JLB007.
Studenti pokračují se stejným vyučujícím, jakého měli v zimním semestru v kurzu Angličtina pro IMS I.

This course is designed for students of International Relations. A prerequisite for this course is a required minimum knowledge of upper-intermediate level (B2). This course will provide students with the crucial vocabulary from the study field of international relations. In summer semester, the course results in an exam. Grading will be based on the assessment scale with the grades A-F - see the Exam Requirements below.
A successful completion of the course English for International Studies JLB007 is a pre-requisite for enrolment in this course.
Students continue with the same teacher they had in the winter semester in the English for IMS I course.

Cíl předmětu -
Cílem kurzu je rozvíjet komunikační kompetence a jazykové dovednosti, které pomohou studentům ve studiu jejich oboru. Zároveň se studenti v kurzu seznámí se specifiky jazyka používaného v akademickém prostředí, zejména při ústních prezentacích, skupinových diskusích a akademickém psaní.

Applied method: content-based language teaching
Students will become acquainted with the specialized vocabulary through the reading of a variety of academic texts. Besides reading, the emphasis is also laid on communication, exchange of information and ideas. The method used is pair work, group work, as well as individual work.

Požadavky ke zkoušce -
ZKOUŠKA:
A. Požadavky k písemné zkoušce:
1.závěrečná písemná zkouška se uskuteční ve formě testu (cvičení ve formě: multiple-choice, gap-filling, word formation, matching, True and False, grammar exercises, esej v rozsahu 100 slov). Test bude mít dvě části. Jedna část bude založena na vybraných 10 textech a znalostech získaných při práci s doplňkovými materiály (poslech, diskuse atd.). Druhá část testu bude tvořena gramatickými cvičeními založenými na gramatické učebnici R.Murphyho "English Grammar In Use," a gramatice probírané na seminářích.
2.Hodnocení: Pro úspěšné absolvování testu je třeba dosáhnout 70% správných odpovědí. Časový limit je 90 min.
Ukázku testu najdete v položce Soubory (nejprve se přihlašte do SIS systému, klikněte na Předměty, zadejte správný kód předmětu a na horní okrové liště se objeví volba Soubory)jsou k dispozici vzory písemné zkoušky, sada povinných textů a další užitečné materiály.
Hodnocení testu:
100-91% správných odpovědí - výborně
90-81% - velmi dobře
80-70% - dobře
B. Požadavky k ústní zkoušce:
1. Předvést skupinovou prezentaci (každá skupina v počtu 2 nebo 3 studenti ) v průběhu letního semestru, po ukončení semestru NELZE prezentace provádět. Časový limit prezentace je cca 5 min na jednoho studenta. Každý účastník prezentace je hodnocen individuálně. Známka z prezentace doplňuje a vyvažuje známku z písemného testu, který je klíčový pro výslednou známku. Prezentace by měla vycházet z oblasti mezinárodních vztahů a její téma nejprve schváleno vyučujícím.
2. Skupina připraví jeden pracovní list pro publikum, který bude obsahovat následující:
Cvičení typu True/False nebo obdobné v rozsahu 5 položek zaměřené na informace zmíněné v prezentaci.
3. Dvě otázky k tématu prezenace za účelem vyvolání a moderování diskuze s posluchači.
Prezentace začnou začátkem března a studenti se zapíší na určitý termín na začátku semestru, v konzultačních hodinách či po domluvě s vyučujícím. Studenty, kteří nenavštěvují výuku prosím o domluvení termínu prezentace nejdéle do konce března.
C. Studenti, kteří nenavštěvují výuku pravidelně (méně než 70% účasti), odevzdají vyučujícímu dvě písemná hodnocení prezentací spolužáků, ve kterém kromě vlastního hodnocení také vyjádří svůj názor na prezentovanou problematiku. Rozsah hodnocení jsou celkem 2 strany A4 (písmo Times New Roman, vel.12, řádkování 1). Práce budou odevzdány nejdéle do 30.5. 2011.

EXAM REQUIREMENTS
A. Requirements for the written exam.
1. To pass a written test. The test consists of multiple-choice, gap-filling, word formation, matching, True and False, and other grammar exercises, a short essay (100 words). Test will have 2 parts: the first part will be based on the set of 10 materials assigned for reading and on the knowledge gained during our work with additional material (listening, discussions etc.). The second part will consist of grammar exercises based on the textbook by R.Murphy "English Grammar In Use," and grammar covered in the seminars.
2. A student needs to reach 70% or correct answers in order to pass the test. The time limit is 90 min.

B. Requirements for the oral examination
Students have to:
1. give a team presentation (a team consists of 2 or 3 students) before the end of the spring semester. No presentations can be made after the end of the semester. Each performance is assessed individually. The time limit is 5 min. for one student. Presentations should deal with the topics from the field of international relations and their topics must be approved by the teacher.
2. A group of students presenting the topic will prepare one worksheet for the class which will contain the following:
an exercise focusing on important vocabulary used in the presentation /5 items/
type of exercise:T/F or similar based on presentation.
3. Each group/team will prepare two questions related to the presentation with the aim to provoke and moderate discussion.
Even though it is the outcome of the written part of the final examination which plays the major role in the grading process, the outcome of the presentations will be used in the borderline cases to decide which grade a student will get.
Students will start presenting from early March. All students will sign up for a certain date in person either at the beginning of the spring term or in the teacher´s office hours. Students, who do not attend the classes on regular basis, are asked to contact the teacher by the end of March to arrange the date for their presentation.
C. Students who do not attend classes on regular basis (attendance lower than 70%) will be required to hand in two written evaluations of presentations given by other students. In those evaluations they will also mention their opinion on the presented topic. The complete length of those evaluations is two pages A4 (font Times New Roman, size 12, single spacing). The evaluations must be handed in by May 30th 2011 at the latest.

Sylabus -
Každý týden se budeme věnovat jednomu tématu z oblasti mezinárodních vztahů a to čtením tematicky zaměřených textů. Články studentům poslouží k rozšíření slovní zásoby. Studenti budou vyzváni k tomu, aby je vlastními slovy shrnuli a poté vyjádřili svůj názor na danou tématiku. Názor si musí obhájit. Veškeré potřebné články jsou k dispozici na SIS. Je povinností každého studenta si tyto články okopírovat před začátkem hodiny. Za účelem zpestření diskuzí mohou být studentům přidělena témata na krátkou prezentaci.
Materiály poskytnuté studentům a používané při výuce slouží výhradně ke studijním účelům pro zapsané posluchače kurzu Angličtina pro IMS II. Nejsou určeny k dalšímu šíření. Tématické okruhy: 1. Each week we will examine one major topic from the field of international relations based on the text material. Through readings the students will enlarge their vocabulary and will be encouraged to summarize the article in their own words, to present and defend their own opinions. All the reading material will be available on the SIS. Students are responsible for copying these reading materials prior to the class. The materials provided to students and used during the course are exclusively for the purpose of study for registered members of the course English for IMS II. They are not intended for wider distribution. Any wider distribution of these course materials is permitted only with the express consent of the course providers, and in the absence of such consent is forbidden.
To stimulate discussion, students may be assigned to give short presentations on assigned readings.
