The course introduces students to the realm of documentaries about sustainability,
highlighting the perspective of the filmmaker. The topics linked to sustainability are big, global issues like climate change, food sustainability, business sustainability, overpopulation, wildlife conservation etc. Documentary films are able to powerfully dramatize the reality of environmental and social issues, but shall the authors have to go farther? It is their task to empower audiences to join causes and being part of the change? It is their task to grab the flag and lead the social movement? Next to the enumeration of documentaries around issues related to sustainability, the course will highlight some theoretical questions: genre related and media ethics related problems in documentary media. During the course students will also learn basic filmmaking technics and will have the opportunity to create their own sustainability film Poslední úprava: Štoll Martin, prof.
